We’re in Frankfort, KY, for the weekend staying at the Elkhorn Campground so we could spend time with the Rob and Heather and their family. Rob lived with us for a while before he married Heather. On this hike at a local park, a neighbor friend on the left joined us. This is the second time we’ve been able to visit Rob and Heather but in different cities.
When we got to town, we saw a brochure for the Rebecca Ruth Candy factory tour and knew we had to find it. These two women started making chocolates in 1919 and Ruth started adding bourbon in 1939. The bourbon balls are made with machines and a conveyor belt, but all of the other chocolates and candies are made and packaged by hand. Labor intensive but delicious.
Then we heard that Daniel Boone’s grave was nearby so had to find it too.
