During the summer while Barney works on the RV and truck, I’m going to doctors appointments, and we’re both working out at a nearby gym, I’m spending time working on some studies to add to our website, Walks With the Father, especially my notes on what’s going to happen at the end of time. This spring/summer we also refreshed our master bathroom. Let us know what you think about this new look. Then our financial planner showed us how we could buy a newer truck for our trips.
A couple of years ago I reread the Left Behind series, and since I remembered the storyline, I concentrated on the scriptures that supported what happened during the 7-year Tribulation. But not all of the events had the supporting scripture, or if scripture was included, the reference wasn’t given. So, I made notes of all of the scriptures and their references and put it all together, including an Introduction of why it’s important to know about the end times and my comments of what was happening.
If you’re interested in these notes and my comments, go to WalksWithTheFather.com and then to the studies page. These notes, as well as all of my Bible studies, are available as PDFs that you can download to use and share.
refreshing our master bathroom
Our master bathroom was okay, but it was one of the few areas of the house that we haven’t remodeled or refreshed from the original look of the house in the mid-1990s (we bought the house in January 2001).
We removed the wallpaper (that I really liked but was an old look) and choose a paint color for the whole bathroom area; then we pulled up the light gray carpet and put down tile. (Eventually all of the carpet upstairs will have to be changed.) Actually we didn’t do the work but just chose what the workers would do. Having to make all those choices is so exhausting!
Here are the old and new looks:
After more than 20 years, I was tired of the red towels and enjoyed going with the dark gray towels (Walmart has such a good selection).
Last fall’s sewer explosion meant we had to refresh the guest bathroom on the main floor (next picture). We went with this modern look that we’ve continued using in our master bathroom. The lights and fixtures are from Home Depot, and the mirrors are from Amazon.
Back to the upstairs look.
We’re using stone bath mats outside of the shower and tub and really like them (Amazon purchases).
The yellow rubber ducky came from our stay at the Peabody Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas, because every day the ducks marched down from the top of the hotel using the elevator and then splashed around in the water fountain on the first floor. This hotel is now a Marriott, so the only place to see the ducks is at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis.
Barney has finished his physical therapy from knee replacement surgery last March. We are planning on a short trip to south Florida to see our family and then he’ll come back for his 2nd surgery on November 4. Our plan is for him to be able to be mobile enough to get around for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
changing out our truck for RV trips
We’re buying a newer truck for us to replace our old one that’s been great as we’ve traveled the U.S. since 2018, but it’s uncomfortable for longer drives and needs more work done as we’ve added more miles.
Now we need to sell it; hope it goes to a new home quickly.
Our grandson wants to sell the lock box in the short bed, and then we’ll have to have a truck cap installed so we can safely store items we use when traveling. The color won’t match our existing RV, but oh well. We’re not going to buy a new RV just to match the truck.
updating our driveway
While at home, we kept seeing some horrible places in our long driveway and decided that we needed to do something before our HOA gets after us! So we called in a company we’ve used before, and they started working.
The workers smoothed out the concrete and put in seams so it wouldn’t crack so easily.
For 24 hours we couldn’t walk on the new driveway so had to make our way through some trees. After 5 days we can start driving our vehicles and park in front of the house.
We’re so glad to have this work done! We never know when we’ll want to downsize as we get older, so we’re trying to do these projects so the house keeps its value and we’re not left with a lot to pay when we decide to sell.
As I’m ready to decorate the house for fall, we’re also starting to get organized for our trip to Florida; we may even be able to sneak in some doctor visits and maybe a procedure or two. I’m also working on some other studies that I’ll be adding to our website soon. Stay tuned.
