After meeting up with the Shoshone, Sacagawea’s tribe, at Camp Fortunate, on horseback Lewis and Clark navigated to the top of the mountain in front of them. They found the spring that became the Missouri River and the Continental Divide. They then decided to take the expedition cross part of the mountain at Lemhi Pass and down to Bitterroot River in a narrow valley. When they got to the junction of the Bitterroot River and Lolo Creek, they rested for a few days at Travelers’ Rest before starting over the Bitterroot Mountains. Then they met up with the Nez Perce tribe that would help them recuperate from their ordeal and then teach them how to make the canoes necessary to get to the Columbia River on their way to the Pacific Ocean.

Wonderful that you’re “back on the road” and seeing so many places that show our rich history in the USA. We are blessed to live in such an amazing land.
We also love touring and have recently been to the Great Lakes area around Montreal and Northern NY. Perhaps we’ll see Door County WI in September. You definitely inspire us!!
