I tried to upload a video of the waves the storm produced, but it was too large for this site. We had a night of wind and rain. Both of us were both awake for quite a while thinking about all the bad things that could happen to our trailer.
In the morning we talked to the couple camping behind us in a tent. I had worried about them during the night, wondering if their tent would endure the winds. They told us that our RV protected them from the worst of the storm. Glad we could help out. Here’s our view of the calm lake after the storm passed.
Since we knew we’d be inside later in the day weathering out the storm, we went to West Bay Diner for breakfast and had delicious, huge fresh blueberry muffins. I had been in the mood for pancakes, but when we went to the diner, they were only serving lunch! The cook and the owner were going to a wedding on Saturday, so the diner was going to be closed for the weekend and they wanted to use up the perishables. Glad we hadn’t waited until Saturday for brunch!
Power is out at our campsite because the workers on the other side of the campground were digging new holes for water lines and cut the electric lines. Luckily, we have a battery and a generator.
We came up with a new-for-us trick at this campsite. While we had electricity and water, we had to be careful with gray water from doing dishes and taking showers. Barney took his showers in the park’s facility, but often it was too cold for me to walk that far (such a wimp). So what do we do with the water we used to wash dishes? We got some lids for our 5-gallon Home Depot pails and stored them under our RV. We emptied our dishwater in them, saving space in the gray tank. All the details we have to think about!
