We stopped for a visit with Jay and Rhonda before taking off to the Outer Banks along North Carolina’s Atlantic Coast. We usually spend time with them coming and going to see our family.

The next morning I finally gave in and told Barney I wanted to go home and see my own doctors. For a number of years, I’ve had problems with a swollen muscle in my left shoulder that would take 3 weeks or so to calm down. This year the problem started when I pulled our little red wagon to the laundry room to do our laundry.

We came home, and eventually I was able to get an epidural injection that calmed down the pain. Now I know that the problem is an inflamed nerve in the cervical area and not a muscle.
So what do you do when you have to make an adjustment to travel plans? Lots of activities and family time in the next post.
The outer banks can wait for another time–maybe next fall if the hurricanes hold off.
