Just outside of Lone Pine is the drive up to the Mt. Whitney Portal. While it was a gorgeous drive, I was so concentrating on watching the road as Barney drove, that I didn’t take any pictures. Must have been nervous. But the destination was worth it.

The Portal is the furthest we could drive, only hiking is allowed from here on. Here are some pictures of this area.
