Today’s outing was a drive north from Saint John about 45 minutes away to St. Martins on Fundy Bay. Our main goal was to drive the Fundy Trail, but first we looked around the harbor at high tide, had lunch, took our drive, came back to the same harbor places at low tide, and finally took in a museum. This post is about the low and high tides and lunch.
Since he used to drive snow plows in the winter, he said residents had to be careful about putting the boxes too close to the road or it would be covered by snow from the plows.
Now for the tide changes. I’m going to put low and high tide pictures together for each location.

Quite a difference in tides! Now for lunch. We saw so many tour buses in town and found out that St. Martins is an excursion destination for the cruise lines that dock in Saint John. Buses bring people to town, they enjoy the tides and walking on the beach, have lunch at one of 2 restaurants in this area, and drive back—a nice 2.5 hour excursion. At the height of the “season,” up to 34 tour buses dropped off people for lunch.
As we walked up to the counter to pay, I saw this picture hanging on the wall. The image of a beautiful tree with deep roots has been a powerful one for me over the years.
