After spending hours on the USS Alabama, we walked over to the USS Drum, a WWII submarine. We were a little afraid of claustrophobia, but made it through just fine. Boy, these submarines were small. Those today are much larger.
A recent Seal Team TV show had the seal team entering the submarine through a torpedo tube. The last man in was caught in the tube and it began to leak. They were where they weren’t supposed to be, and the enemy was close by so the man had to stay in the tube for a long time. Pretty scary. This torpedo room gave me a real feel for what the character went through. Yes, he made it out safely—at the last minute.
We’ve so enjoyed this time along the Gulf Coast in Alabama!
