A lighthouse still in operation is on the grounds of the Naval Air Station, along with a museum of what the keepers quarters looked like. The original lighthouse was the first on the gulf coast. We started climbing the 177 steps to the top, but stopped about half way up since we knew coming down was going to be hard. Time to start doing lunges again! We toured through the keepers quarters, but were more intrigued by the range marker system that’s still being used by ships coming into the bay.
