When we were checking into our campsite at Riverview Campground, our host told us that Waco, Texas, was the #1 vacation destination in the continental United States. Amazing. Chip and Joanna have done a wonderful job, along with others, of changing the black eye that Waco had because of the 1990s. So we drove downtown past Baylor University, found a free parking lot, and walked two blocks to The Silos.

Can’t believe we made it here!

lavender donut balls and lavender lemonade—yum
Inside the market, the lines weren’t long at all.
Items are displayed so beautifully.
I love how they display items they way we might in our homes.
It only took us 20 minutes to get inside the bakery. The four women in front of us were on a destination trip for one woman’s birthday celebration.
such a cute box
Barney’s are in front, and mine are in back. We each had one cupcake after dinner tonight. So good!
These cupcakes from Silos Baking Company are the best cupcakes ever!

Magnolia Table
The next day we drove about 10 minutes from our campsite to have breakfast at Magnolia Table. This had been a restaurant that Chip and Joanna bought, remodeled, and opened about two years ago. The look of the sign and the structure of the building hasn’t changed. The staff was so friendly, and the system they had for our waiting time and the service inside was topnotch.
our first view
“Come on, Barn. Hurry up!”
We had a 1-1/2 hour wait in the outside patio. I enjoyed a lavender latte, Barney had an iced tea, and we shared a delicious croissant. We spent the time outside planning our next stops.
Barney commented that he saw more hens (women) and their chicks (children) than roosters (men)!
inside Magnolia Table
Wonderful breakfast: scrambled eggs, sausage (Barney had peppered bacon), tater tots, and French toast with strawberry butter—the best butter ever!
We enjoyed talking with Matt and Leisha at the table next to us. They’re from Knoxville, Tennessee, and he works in Dallas periodically. She came with him on this trip to celebrate their 21st wedding anniversary at Magnolia Table!
This restaurant that shares the parking lots with Magnolia Table supposedly has great hamburgers and shakes. Maybe next time.
When we got home this afternoon we sat outside our RV and ate our second cupcake. What a great way to end our stay in Waco, but I’m ready to get off of sugar again. Off to Galveston tomorrow!
