The last day in Door County was so cold and windy. Take a look at the waves at Sister Bay on the Sturgeon Bay side of the peninsula.
Since it was so cold out, we decided to get the full Wisconsin experience and stay outside rather than visit more museums, so we took in a couple of places where buildings from the era have been collected and a small village was created. I’ll add notes to the pictures.
outdoor museums on a cold, windy day
First we went to the Heritage Village outside of Sturgeon Bay. The building that we found the most intriguing was a shop that five retired Belgium brothers moved from another location and restored. They’ve contributed their tools and many are “what is it?”
Next is Corner of the Past Museum that’s actually on a corner! The 1875 farm house was brought over the ice from Marinette, WI, in 1885. It has been restored with some original furniture. Mr. Anderson died soon after the family moved, and Mrs. Anderson raised her two children here by herself.
