Our last day in NE Iowa was a down day spent at a laundromat and cooking for the next week or so. We did take a little time out to tour a home from the 1890s in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, called Villa Louis. It’s right on the Mississippi but was built on a mound so flooding never made it into the house, only the basement. Interesting to see how a wealthy family lived during the turn of the century.
