2018 Wisconsin – part 15, Frank Lloyd Wright and Taliesin East

I have been to Taliesin West in the Phoenix area a couple of times, but this was Barney’s first time to visit his home and learn about his life. Here are our photos from Frank Lloyd Wright’s home with some notes.

This beautiful waterfall greeted us as we entered the property.

This view is of the students’ apartments in the architectural school. Originally the pig pen was on the left, and the chicken coop in the back of the building.

Mr. Wright would often build furniture for his homes that fit in perfectly with what he designed. Here’s some seating in the music room where guests would have built-in trays for their drinks and plates with food. With having seating along the walls, he saved space that’s normally behind a sofa or chairs.

The mural on the wall is reflected in the black glass tabletop. So beautiful with the flowers on the table.

Mrs. Wright loved to be out with the birds, so he had a walkway made for her so she could go out to the tree.

Notice how you can see the details on the pottery since we’re looking up at it. He felt perspective was so important.

Looking down on this arrangement doesn’t give us its best view. We’d be better off looking at it from a sitting level.

This is his favorite chair because of the view it provided. His small bed is in the corner. He didn’t require much sleep so wanted to be able to get up and work whenever he wanted to.

This is the view he loved from his favorite chair.
