In the lower level of the visitors’ center for the Wade House stagecoach stop was an amazing carriage museum. We have no idea how many carriages we saw, but one sign said that carriages were made for every need. Here are some of our favorites.

Frank Lloyd Wright

an in-town stagecoach with space on top for luggage

Frank Lloyd Wright used this omnibus around 1890 to transport his guests between Taliesin (we’ll go there later in our trip through Wisconsin) and the railroad station.

the man himself: 1867 – 1959

Yes, he’s from Wisconsin, and we’ll go to his home in a few days. He lived at the end of the horse-drawn carriage era.
