The first weekend on our two-month trip we spent in Pentwater, MI, visiting Janet, Barney’s former coworker, who has a summer home here right on the east side of Lake Michigan. Our campground was right on the lake, and we had beautiful sunsets over the lake.
The downtown was cute with a wonderful candy shop featuring 42 (!) different types of popcorn.
Two downsides to this beautiful location: infestation of fruit flies and a flare up with my neck from looking down so much on the trip because of using the map feature on my cell. We tried to manage the fruit flies until we left the campsite by trapping them in a covered bowl with slits filled with apple cider vinegar and dish soap and then we had to find a chiropractor to get me healthy (much better now!). It took us a long time to get rid of the fruit flies completely!
After 4 days in Pentwater, we took off for Mackinaw City so we could take advantage of the upcoming nice weather in the northern part of the state.
But . . . before we show you the rest of our Michigan UP posts, we’re going to interject our posts around the Detroit area to see Henry Ford’s museum and Deerfield Village.
