Driving through Nevada was amazing, but of course we had a little snafu with the truck–the air conditioning. Matt never had to use it in the Lake Tahoe area because it was always so cool. His mechanic got it up-to-speed, but as we drove into hot Nevada, it stopped working. Sigh. We stopped at Tedford Tire Company in Fallon, NV, and they squeezed it into their schedule and tried to fix it. What really worked was Barney adding a tie-wrap to keep some parts together. No problems since them. What would we do without tie-wraps and duck tape?
They also suggested we eat at The Courtyard Cafe just down the road while we waited for them to work on the truck. The food was delicious!
Seeing the salt flats after we drove over the mountains was amazing. This is where race car drivers get up to their high speeds. Found out more about this when we went to The Henry Ford museum outside of Detroit.
In preparation for traveling, Barney mapped out our Christmas list and strategic partners for our church in Alpharetta, North Point Community Church. In Salt Lake City we used both.
Salt Lake City
Got to spend time with Bill and Nancy from days in Careers, a singles group from Peninsula Bible Church in Palo Alto, California.
They attend South Mountain Community Church, one of our partners, and we got to hear about the great things the church is doing in the area. We spent the afternoon with Bill and Nancy in Park City, Utah. Another bucket list item completed! So glad we didn’t have to deal with the crowds in winter.
