Our first RV trip was to Long Ridge Campground in Hiawassee, Georgia, in the north Georgia mountains. We enjoyed our campground and took our first pictures of the layout we’ll be enjoying as we travel.
One family had a tent in the shape and coloring of an old VW bus; they told us about a website in England where you can order and customize these fun tents.
The only downside of where we were was the continual sound of nuts dropping on the roof throughout the night, disconcerting at first until we realized what was making the noise. Sunday morning we hooked up our systems and were able to watch our church’s online service (North Point Community Church). So glad to stay connected with our church family.
We enjoyed Vogel State Park and bought an annual pass for future Georgia visits. The water fall in the state park was incredibly beautiful. We’d come back to this state park.
One realization we made that Sunday was that often businesses in small towns are often closed on Sundays. Barney needed a tool for a burned out tail light, so we had to drive to a little larger town on down the road to find an open store.
At lunch at Barney’s Tap and Grill in Hiawassee, we had found a brochure describing local water falls, so we went searching. Monday morning we checked out and drove back to civilization; it was so sad to leave the beauty of the area.
Our friends, Tom and Sintya, said we could store our trailer on their land, so we unpacked at home and then took the trailer to an open area by their barn. They gave Barney a key to the barn in case we needed electricity. Thank you, Tom and Sintya! Then we started planning our next trip.
